FAQs
What is Corporate Social Responsibility?
CSR is not a synonym for philanthropy. The CSR scholars Dirk Matten and Jeremy Moon made a useful distinction between implicit and explicit CSR in their April 2008 paper in the Academy of Management Review. They suggested that explicit CSR consists of specific voluntary policies and programs by business in response to societal issues; but implicit CSR consists of values and norms for business behaviour motivated by broad consensus about the role and contribution of business.
“Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), while not a new subject, has been developing for some time as a significant theme in the global as well as local business community. Whereas 54% of executives in one global survey in 2000 said that the notion was ‘central’ or ‘important’ to their corporate decision-making, that figure had grown by 2005 to 88% of executives surveyed. Likewise, whereas 34% of professional investors in that same global survey in 2000 said that CSR was ‘central’ or ‘important’ to their investment decisions, that figure had risen by 2005 to 81%.” (Economist Intelligence Unit, The importance of CSR.) Leadership Journey is a strategic means of achieving both types of CSR.

What kind of accommodation will we be staying in?
The majority of the accommodation organised on the Leadership Journey is chosen for its proximity to the project you are visiting. The purpose of the Leadership Journey is to experience how over 70% of the world’s population lives so clients should not expect to be housed in luxury. While the choice of accommodation reflects our commitment to simplicity, we want to maximise our clients' enjoyment of the Leadership Journey experience. We ensure that the accommodation enables clients to feel safe and well rested during their stay. Hygiene standards are also of critical importance to the success of the Journey with fresh and safe food, water and medical supplies always available.
