Leadership Development
Leadership Journey is primarily a leadership development product. Personal formation at an ethical/ behavioural level is the key outcome not the development of leadership skills. Leadership is an intentional set of interpersonal behaviours underpinned by self awareness and an ethical/ moral foundation. Unpacking the concept of culture is a common element in many leadership development programs, but is it realistic to expect leaders to be able to influence their own culture if they are unable to objectively perceive it and have no mechanism for reflecting outside of it? The Leadership Journey is a mechanism to leverage a shift but requires getting out of the classroom to be effective.
Facilitating a Leadership program in a development project context allows a range of powerful synergies to emerge.
-
Travelling out of their emotional and geographical comfort zone causes participants to challenge fundamental assumptions built into their world-view.
-
The context in which participants have a title and authority will be stripped away and they will be put instead into the place of the student and the servant as they seek to understand the complex needs of the developing community they are visiting.
-
The ethical/ moral foundations of leadership become more evident within the context of the Journey.
-
The foreign context will put relationship building and communication skills to the test in an environment that is unfamiliar.
-
Participants will discover more about their own levels of resilience, emotional intelligence and spiritual awareness.
