Leadership Journey is a development program designed to take participants on a literal ‘journey’ out of their geographical and emotional comfort zone to a development project in a foreign location. Being a 'positional' leader means very little if you do not demonstrate the behaviours required to 'function' as a leader. A Leadership Journey will test your self-awareness and inter-personal skills. The cross cultural immersion experience will also challenge your value system and world view and enhance your intentional relationship building and influencing skills.
Leadership Journey is a culturally sensitive program that provides a hands-on experience for participants to relate directly with a developing community and to begin to understand their context. The Journey program is a catalyst through which participants can ask themselves some of life's more important questions and also advocate for a community of people with whom they have built a genuine relationship.

Leadership Journey is an entirely tailorable program designed to impact participants’ awareness about leadership behaviours, values and world view. It takes place in a developing project context which is chosen by the client organisation. The Leadership Journey is a powerful combination of Leadership Development and Corporate Social Responsibility. The program involves a group of 8-10 people heading overseas to a project of their choice for 7-10 days, depending on the destination they choose. While on site the group undertake a cross-cultural immersion and experience how over 70% of the world’s population lives. Cross-cultural modules and hands-on experiences are designed and facilitated with the participant group’s values and personal development needs in mind.
There are three phases to each Leadership Journey:
- The pre-Journey briefing, choice of destination and tailoring of the facilitated program.
- The Leadership Journey.
- The post-Journey debrief, optional group coaching, leadership task and post program measurement.
Each Leadership Journey is hosted by an experienced training facilitator and local guides who will travel with the group for the duration of the Leadership Journey program. Leadership Journey participants are expected to champion the project they have visited upon their return by raising awareness and a pre-agreed sum of money for the development project they visited. Participants can be assisted via group coaching sessions upon their return to ensure they continue their personal development and project advocacy.
